Project: Card Catalogue

The Card Catalogue project began when I couldn’t resist salvaging a vintage school card catalogue from the Cornell University Library & then began the task of filling it with art & writing made solely on the 3″ x 5″ surface of index cards. It’s become more than just an alternative to a sketchbook that I originally intended it as. This has evolved into an obsessive sort of archive for my life & for all of the people passing through my life, via home, studio, work & my website by adding in their own cards to help fill the catalogue. It wouldn’t be an accurate archive without all of you so please participate by making your own cards & adding them to this project that will inevitably take a lifetime to complete. Only thousands and thousands more to go! There’s a blank card with your name on it just waiting to be filed away for perpetuity. If you don’t live in Seattle just contact me & I’ll pass on my new mailing address. All cards will be posted here on the blog before getting filed away.
That’s a very neat idea. For those of us that only end up poking ourselves in the eyes when entrusted with writing utensils, are digitally composed submissions acceptable (photography, graphic design, computer generated, etc)?
Digital art is more than acceptable. Be as New Media as you want to be. This is no Status Quo card Catalogue my friend. And I wouldn’t want anybody to loose an eye, just watch out for the electrical shocks and eye strain…I guess digital has its own hazards.
Whoa! At last a use for obsolete card catalog cabinets! I love your idea, and hope you’ll let me browse your card catalog when I visit. 3×5 cards aren’t too intimidating for anyone, and perfect for doodlers. Reminds me of the post card secrets project…know what I’m talking about?
It’s a quiet neat project indeed…
Could I be part of the catalog?
huge hugs.

Cristina! How are you? What have you been up to? I’ve asked dad for updates on you & the rest of the gang but never get any real details and I love the details. I would love for you to send in some three by fives for the catalog. I will email you with the details in a bit. SO so happy to hear from you.
